Qualified Medication Aide Course

Monday & Thursday 2:30 – 6:30pm
14 weeks clinical (45 hours)

Pharmacology course that prepares the CNA for passing medications in long-term care facilities under the direction and supervision of a nurse.

Those who successfully complete the classroom and clinical QMA program will be able to apply for the Indiana State Department of Health exam for Qualification Certificate.

Jobs in this field require the ability to stoop, kneel, walk and stand for long periods, the ability to lift 50-75 pounds frequently, be responsible, patient, caring, willing to take directions and work as part of a team, good interpersonal skills, and communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, maintain confidentiality.

* Tuition includes State Qualification Testing fee, ISDH course text, nursing drug handbook and Qualified Medication Aide pin

* Classroom instruction of 60 hours followed by 45 hours of clinical practicum training which is arranged around the student’s schedule; usually 2-4 hours several days a week; clinical training has to be completed within 2 months.

Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Copy of CNA training school certificate
  • Copy of CNA testing evaluation results
  • Copy of ISDH certification card
  • Copy of most recent physical exam
  • Copy of last 2 tuberculin skin tests
  • Copy of High School diploma or GED
  • Copy of picture id and social security card
  • Copy of IN State criminal history check
  • On Nurse Aide registry with no verified findings
  • Letter of recommendation from your supervisor
  • Proof of 1000 hrs work as CNA in past 24 mo
  • Able to read and write English
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply & divide
  • turn-in pre-test with application and $30 application fee
